HTK grabs another open-hatch

One of Vietnams fastest growing private owners, Haiphong-headquartered HTK Shipping, is linked to its first ship purchase of the year.

The active buyer is revealed as the taker of the 2007-built, 37,000 dwt handysize bulker, Cielo Di Amalfi, a ship first reported sold last week by Japanese owner Tokei Kaiun to Vietnamese interests for a price of $10.2m.

This is the second open-hatch handysize vessel in HTK’s 13-ship strong stable. At the end of last year the handysize specialist paid $1.3m more for a sister ship of the Cielo Di Amalfi.

HTK Shipping is a diverse company not only involved in shipowning. It also manages its ships, and is involved in brokerage, coal trading and more besides. Most of HTK’s ships trade domestically.
