Croatia set to welcome 20,000 teu ships

Croatia is set to offer liners the first opportunity to berth their 20,000 teu ships in the northern Adriatic as the supersizing of global trade spreads across the Mediterranean.

Manila-headquartered International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has revealed its subsidiary, Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), is expanding its facility at the Port of Rijeka to handle ships of up to 20,000 teu capacity.

Significant dredging is underway to ensure 438 m of quayside will have a depth alongside of 16.5 m. New super post-panamax cranes will be added to the site.
