Belgian owner Cobelfret has pounced for two post-panamax resales due for delivery from Tsuneishi Zhoushan in China shortly.
Broking sources tell Splash Coberlfret is paying $34m per unit for the new Tess 99 design AGTR Ambition and AGTR Blossom, optimised 99,000 dwt versions, dubbed Zhoushanmaxes, of Tsuneishi’s popular Tess 98 series. The ships were originally ordered by a Chinese joint venture out of Singapore called Safargo with equity participation from the Kambara family who control the shipyard.
Safargo is a joint venture between privately owned soybean crusher Shandong Bohi Grain and Oils and grain freight broker Vertical Horizon controlled by broker Lui Gang, who is also the managing director of Safargo. The sales will leave Safargo with two kamsarmaxes, delivered also from Tsuneishi Zhoushan four years ago.
The resales take Cobelfret’s bulker fleet to 16 ships, including four post-panamaxes.
