South Korean owner H-Line has placed an order at domestic yard Hyundai Samho for the construction of two LNG-powered 180,000 dwt capesize bulkers.
The two vessels, which are scheduled for delivery in 2022, will be deployed on a route between South Korea and Australia.
H-Line ordered two vessels of the same type at the shipyard in October last year at a price of $71m each.
H-Line currently owns a fleet of 40 vessels comprising 36 bulkers and four LNG carriers. It also has eight capesize bulkers on order.
South Korea is now making huge efforts to promote the development of LNG-powered ships, including providing subsidies for local lines to order such ships at domestic yards.
