Heerema awarded Taiwan offshore wind farm contract

Dutch offshore engineering firm Heerema Marine Contractors has secured a new contract from Jan de Nul to support the construction of the Changhua wind farm project in Taiwan.

Heerema will be responsible for the installation of 21 jacket foundations for the project, and will deploy its heavy lift vessel Aegir for the works.

The offshore phase of the project will start in March 2020 with planned completion in early June 2020.

The Changhua Windfarm Phase 1 project is a project of Taiwan Power Company (TPC) and is being executed by a consortium of Jan de Nul and Hitachi.

“This is our first contract in Taiwan, thus another major milestone. This Changhua project re-emphasizes Heerema’s commitment to operate in wind projects all over the world and strengthen our position in the Asian offshore wind market,” said Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO of Heerema Marine Contractors.
