Taiwan Navigation takes Eagle Bulk supramax

Bulker owner Taiwan Navigation has acquired a 15-year-old supramax bulker from US owner Eagle Bulk.

According to multiple shipbroking sources, Eagle Bulk sold its 2004-built 50,300 dwt bulker Kestrel 1 to Taiwan Navigation. The Japanese-built vessel has fetched a price of $7.3m.

Taiwan Navigation recently sold two 2014-built vessels, the 52,700 dwt supramax bulker Tai Happiness and the 77,800 dwt panamax bulker Tai Progress.

The company currently operates a fleet of 18 bulkers, with four newbuildings under construction at Japanese yards.

Last week, Eagle Bulk announced a plan to raise $100m for the acquisition of six ultramax bulkers.
