Tug boat sinks off Jingjiang, 22 missing

Shanghai: A tug boat sank during a sea trial on the Yangtze river off Jingjiang, Jiangsu yesterday.

Three people who were onboard the vessel were rescued, but another 22 remain missing according to Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration.

The tugboat, JMS Delta, was built by Shenzhou Machinery in Bengbu, Anhui. The missing people include foreign technical workers from Singapore, Japan, Indonesia and India.

Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine announced that its tug towing subsidiary, Jurong Marine Services, had three employees onboard the vessel which it planned to charter.

Currently rescue work is ongoing. [16/01/15]
