Ocean Rig drillships get Angola contracts from ENI

Athens: ENI Angola, part of Italy-based energy producer ENI, has extended its timecharter of one Ocean Rig drillship and extended its contract on another.

Ocean Rig Olympia has won a new contract to drill in offshore Angola, starting in the third quarter of 2015.

The contract is for a minimum period of eight months with a total contract backlog of about $91m, the Economou-led company said today.

ENI Angola has extended its timecharter of Ocean Rig Poseidon by a further year until the second quarter of 2017. The total contract backlog now stands at about $367m.

The two companies previously signed an omnibus agreement for the charters, but now “all closing conditions including approvals by national authorities and signing of definitive documentation have been satisfied”, Ocean Rig said.
