Havyard awarded subsea newbuild contract

Oslo: Havyard has announced that is has signed a new contract with an international shipping company for the design and construction of a Havyard 858 L WE subsea vessel.

The contract value is around NOK 700m ($88.8m) and the vessel is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2017.

Lasse Stokkeland, head of the ship technology at Havyard Group, said he was happy with the company’s current order book, commenting: “Our focus is to continuously work on restructuring and streamlining to further increase our competitiveness. We see that we still have great potential to be more cost effective, while we will maintain the requirements for quality and delivery precision. This way we will ensure profitable construction at our shipyard in Norway also in the future.”

The Havyard 858 L WE is designed for IMR and light construction work on subsea installations.

Grant Rowles

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List. In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
