Bergen Group CEO resigns

Oslo: Norway’s Bergen Group has announced the resignation of the company’s CEO, Asle Solheim.

Bergen has already begun the process of recruiting a new CEO, with Solheim available until year-end in order to ensure continuity. Solheim has been the CEO of Bergen since May 2013, and his resignation will be effective no later than September 30.

“When I was appointed CEO two years ago, it was partly to strengthen the focus on a new offshore related growth based on the established industrial area on Hanøytangen. Now the conditions for further growth have changed substantially. I therefore find it appropriate that the Board on a free basis also evaluate the management resources when defining the future strategy for the Group”, commented Solheim.

Under Solheim’s stewardship, Bergen completed the sale of its shipbuilding division last year and sale of the rig service activity to Semco Maritime in May.
