Navios is buyer of China VLCC duo

Navios Maritime Acquisition is the buyer of the two vessels reported sold by China VLCC yesterday, brokers tell Splash.

The vessels are New Medal (297,600 dwt, built 2009) and  New Founder (297,400 dwt, built 2008), which were sold en bloc for $133m to the Navios-owned single-ship companies Tilos Shipping Corp and Delos Shipping Corp, as Splash reported yesterday.

The purchase will bring Navios Maritime Acquisition’s VLCC fleet up back to eight vessels, replacing two sold in June.

The company transferred ownership of its VLCCs C Dream (298,570 dwt, built 2000) and Nave Celeste (298,717 dwt, built 2003) to Navios Midstream Partners LP in June for $100m combined.
