German bulker held at Duluth

A German bulk carrier has been detained by US authorities in Lake Superior. Locals suspect the ship was detained over its grain handling. The  Cornelia has been held in the Duluth harbour outside the Duluth Ship Canal for the past four days. Authorities refuse to give precise details why the ship has been held however.

After being loaded midweek, the Cornelia never got underway. The ship has been stopped at anchor since Thursday.

The 2001-built Cornelia is owned by the German company MST.
