Aalto Shipping acquires two bulkers

New Finnish shipping company Aalto Shipping has announced the acquisition of two ice-strengthened bulk carriers for its fleet.

One of the new ships will start operations under the Finnish flag this month and has been fixed with a long-term charter contract starting in October. It will be renamed Airisto and operate mainly in the Baltic Sea and North Sea.

“We are pleased that we are again increasing the tonnage sailing under the Finnish flag. We want to strengthen Finnish seafaring, and this third vessel is well suited to strengthen the company’s tonnage. The premise for the purchase was a ship that meets customer needs. The ship was built in Holland in the 2000s and is in excellent condition,” said Tatu Laurila, managing director at Aalto.

Aalto  is controlled by Finnish financial group Taaleri and started operations in spring this year.
