Abo Shoten returns to Kambara Kisen for supramax buy

Japanese owner Abo Shoten, which this year is celebrating its 60th anniversary, has acquired 2016-built Tsuneishi supramax Fortune Symphony, according to broking sources.

Both Seasure Shipbroking and Advanced Shipping & Trading are both reporting that Abo Shoten has forked out $20.8m to compatriot owner Kambara Kisen for the vessel. The price is slightly under the VesselsValue market value of $21.1m.

According to Abo Shoten’s website, it currently has six supramaxes in its fleet.

The company’s last supramax addition, in November 2018, was also acquired from Kambara Kisen. It paid $19.3m for the 2014-built (Tsuneishi Cebu) Majulah Singapura, which has since been renamed ASL Era.
