Abu Dhabi April throughput jumps 20%

Dubai: Khalifa’s entrance to the global ports map is having an impact. Abu Dhabi Ports witnessed an increase of 20% in the volume of containers and bulk cargo handled during April this year, compared to the same period of 2012, while the navigational traffic witnessed by the ports during the same month reached more than 3,000 movements.

Mohammed Al Shamsi, acting chief executive of Abu Dhabi Ports Company, said that the emirate expects a significant increase in the volume of maritime trade during the current year, with new Khalifa Port, and in the process of linking with a number of US destinations.[19/05/13]
