Aker Solutions wins MMO contract from Statoil in the North Sea

Aker Solutions is to perform the preliminary engineering work that will prepare Statoil’s Utgard gas and condensate field to be tied in to processing facilities at the Sleipner field in the North Sea.

The contract will be managed and executed by Aker’s maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) unit in Stavanger, Norway, which will begin by modifying platforms at Sleipner.

Statoil has the option to add engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services for the platform modifications to the contract, but this will be decided later in the year by the Sleipner license partners, Aker said.

“This builds on the strengths of our operations in Norway and our expertise in complex modifications,” Per Harald Kongelf, head of Aker Solutions’ Norwegian operations, said in a release.

The contract is the latest in a series of modification projects that Aker Solutions has undertaken for Statoil at Sleipner over the past five years.
