Al-Faw port progress

Dubai: Sources in the Iraqi Ministry of Transport said that Iraq signed a contract worth €511m ($690m) with South Korea's Daewoo, to build a breakwater in the waters nearby the port of Al-Faw, which is planned to be constructed and built in the south of the country.

The big port of al-Faw near Basra is one of several projects through which the Iraqi government have high hopes to provide a passenger line that links the Middle East and Europe, without the need to cross the Suez Canal.  [28/11/13]
