Canada’s Algoma Central Corporation has grown its tanker fleet to seven with the acquisition of a 2008-built product tanker.
Algoma did not reveal the identity of the vessel or the seller, although said it will rename the tanker Algonorth.
“We are extremely pleased to add a vessel to our Algoma Tankers Limited fleet as customer demand continues to strengthen in this segment,” said Ken Soerensen, president and CEO of Algoma.
Algoma will use the vessel to ship petroleum products on the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence Seaway and East Coast.
