Amoretti Armatori takes Gotland tanker pair

Italian owner Amoretti Armatori Group, controlled by the Amoretti family, have purchased two handysize tankers, doubling its exposure in this vessel size, brokers tell Splash.

The active owner has shaken hands with Swedish tanker and ferry owner Rederi AB Gotland, adding the 39,000 dwt Chinese-built ships, Alice (built 2013) and sistership Ami (built 2012) for $40m en bloc.

Amoretti Armatori’s tanker fleet consisted of 10 ships prior to this latest purchase, of which eight are small chemical tankers.

At the beginning of the year Amoretti Armatori, established in the 1940s, signed newbuilding contracts with Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding for the construction of two 4,500 dwt chemical tankers.
