Andromeda takes South African chemical tanker for $13.5m

South Africa’s Grindrod Shipping is being linked with a chemical tanker sale. Sources tell Splash that Andromeda from Monaco has paid $13.5m for the 40,000 dwt Oliphant tanker.

Splash understands the deal comes with a deal for a two-year time charter back at $14,500 a day.

The Oliphant is 12-years-old and was built at Shina Shipbuilding in South Korea.
