Angelicoussis orders up to four newcastlemaxes

Having put pen to paper on $560m worth of VLCC newbuilds so far this year, John Angelicoussis, via his company Anangel Shipping Services, is being linked with a bulker splurge.

Brokers, including Allied from Greece, report Angelicoussis, one of Greece’s largest shipowners, has returned to a familiar yard, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, for two firm and two option newcastlemaxes. The 208,000 dwt ships are Tier III compliant and are set to deliver in 2020. A price in the region of $47.5m per unit has been reported.
