Aqaba Port workers to strike

Amman: Workers in ports and clearance companies in Jordan's Al-Aqaba are to go on a strike Tuesday. The protest is taking place against one of the clearance companies' decision to discharge a member of the Navigation Union Committee, according to the media spokesman of the General Union of Ports and Customs, Imad Al-Kasasiba.

He added, that the strike will be an open one, until the company agrees to the reinstatement of the employee, and that the General Union will address the issue to international organizations to start a solidarity campaign at an international level to force the group of companies in Aqaba to respect labor rights.
