Aqualis Offshore: Renewables bring some relief

Asker: Renewable energy projects are providing some solace for Norwegian offshore consultants Aqualis Offshore in what has been a tricky period for the sector.

“One of the strengths of the Aqualis group is that we service across the energy sectors and therefore have three legs to stand on: offshore oil and gas, solar and offshore wind. The oil and gas market is weak, but the renewables markets remain robust,” says David Wells, CEO of Aqualis Offshore.

The rig moving market remains active for Aqualis Offshore and the company is also conducting a fair amount of vessel inspections and dry transportations, Wells reports.

Aqualis has recently established a partnership with the China Ship Design & Research Center (CSDC).

“The agreement with CSDC enables us to cooperate on engineering projects both in China and internationally. We will cooperate in the fields of engineering, project management, research, innovation and marketing,” says Wells. A key objective is to develop a joint engineering service to offshore newbuild projects, including FPSOs, jack-ups, TLPs, spars and semi-submersibles, in China and elsewhere. Aqualis will also provide FEED services, including conceptual design, basic design and national research projects, plus detailed design engineering service for transportation and offshore installation of fixed platforms, floating structures and subsea facilities.
