Arkon forms boxship chartering firm

A new German boxship chartering firm has been launched. Arkon Shipping has joined forces with five German owners to create Arkon Allied Container (AAC), which can boast a fleet of 90 tramp boxships with a strong feeder focus.

The five initial owners are Nordic, Wessels, Jungerhans, HS Schiffahrt and Jebsen Shipping Partners with AAC looking for other owners to sign up.

Owners make money in the form of dividend payments from AAC via charter brokerage fees.

This is the latest consolidation seen in Germany’s hugely altered shipowning scene, which sister publication Maritime CEO magazine will be investigating in the next issue due for publication at the end of this month.
