Army clears out protesters at Port Tawfik

 

Cairo: The army were called in yesterday to clear out a mass protest by young unemployed men who had blockaded an entrance to Egypt’s Port Tawfik on the Red Sea for most of this week. 

Major General Mohammed Abdul Qadir Jaballah, chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority, said today that the shipping situation at Port Tawfik is now stable and that all transport stuck for days outside the port entered and unloaded their cargo. Six protesters were arrested.  [21/03/13]
