Asia Shipping Media takes over Naftrade

Singapore: Asia Shipping Media (ASM), the publisher of GulfShip News, has concluded its first international acquisition, taking over Greek news website Naftrade. The deal comes as ASM rolls out its global magazine title Maritime CEO and gives ASM a strong foothold in Europe.

Naftrade has a strong social media following and is one of Europe’s most read shipping websites founded by Athens-based John Nikolaou who will continue to work with ASM.

Naftrade is changing from a news aggregator to a global site for ASM’s wide network of journalists spanning five continents across the globe. Naftrade will carry the top news stories from ASM’s three regional titles in China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East as well as leveraging off Maritime CEO’s line up of 17 correspondents across the world to provide a unique and free daily maritime news site.

Commented ASM’s editorial director Sam Chambers, “Taking over Naftrade provides us with a well established portal to consolidate our global news gathering resources.”

Founded 18 months ago in Singapore ASM’s titles include SinoShip, the bilingual global platform for Chinese shipping, SeaShip News, the top destination for maritime and offshore developments in Southeast Asia and GulfShip News, the bilingual source for Middle Eastern maritime news. On top of these titles ASM’s flagship, Maritime CEO, interviews a top shipping executive daily and runs a high quality quarterly magazine.
