Asia Vision leaves Sabine Pass with landmark LNG export cargo

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker the Asia Vision departed from Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana on Wednesday night carrying the first export shipment of LNG from a US state other than Alaska.

The landmark transit marks the start of an expected boom in exported LNG by the US.

Houston-based Cheniere Energy, owner of the $11bn Sabine Pass facility, said the Asia Vision’s cargo of 3bn cubic feet (bcf) of gas is headed for Brazil where the first customer is the state oil giant Petrobras.
