Asian acquisition still a possibility for V.Ships: Giorgi

Singapore: The world’s largest shipmanager continues to hunt possible acquisitions in Asia. V.Ships has been looking at possible takeover candidates for a couple of years, and while organic growth is still the number one route for growth, acquisitions are still possible, according to president Roberto Giorgi. “We are still looking at acquisitions,” he told SinoShip News.

In China V.Ships’ collaboration with China Shipping, which dates back to 2006 continues to blossom. “It is one of the best joint ventures we have ever done,” Girogi said. With 16 large ships jointly managed at the moment there are plans to add another four to the jv’s books soon.

Earlier this year SinoShip News reported exclusively on V.Ships’ opening of a Hong Kong office. Giorgi explained the rationale for that office opening. “Hong Kong will be strategically important with the financial set up of that city. It is more of a marketing office than an operations office.”  [19/09/12]
