Singapore: Shipbuilder ASL Marine Holdings has reached a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Miclyn Express Offshore via its newly created subsidiary, PT Sukses Shipyard Indonesia, to purchase the shipyard owned by Miclyn adjacent to ASL’s existing shipyard in Batam for $20m.
The yard is situated in the free trade zone designated for shipyards and comprises a site of 12.2 hectares with berthing quays of 220 metres, 2 shiprepair launch-ways and shipyard facilities which cater for shipbuilding, vessels repair, modification and mobilisation, as well as modular fabrication services.
ASL currently owns and operates four shipyards located in Singapore, Indonesia and China and says the acquisition will help strengthen and expand its shipbuilding and ship repair capability and capacity.
Should all conditions of sale and purchase be met and approvals given, the title transfer is expected to be complete within two months. [27/01/13]
