Awilco Drilling appoints new CEO, exercises semi-sub option at Keppel

Norway’s Awilco Drilling has appointed Jens Berge as its new CEO, replacing Jon Oliver Bryce who is leaving after nine years at the company.

Berge moves from Prosafe, where he has been COO since November 2017, and is scheduled to take over by June 4. In the meantime, COO Roddy Smith will act as interim CEO.

Awilco Drilling also announced that it has declared an option with Keppel FELS in Singapore for a new CS60 ECO MW semi-submersible drilling rig. The company had ordered a single rig with three options in March 2018 at a price of $425m each.

The optional rig is scheduled for delivery in March 2022, and two more options remain.

Awilco is raising $20m in a private placement in connection with the option exercised.
