Awilco LNG sells elderly laid-up gas carriers

Norway’s Awilco LNG has agreed to sell two of its 32- and 33-year-old LNG carriers, which are currently in cold lay up near Galang, Malaysia, according to AIS data.

The 125,000-cbm vessels WilGas (built 1984) and WilEnergy (built 1983) will go to an unnamed buyer for an undisclosed price. A 10% is due to be paid shortly, Awilco said in an exchange filing today.

VesselsValue.com estimates the ships’ combined current market value at $45.83m.

Last July, Awilco sold its then 32-year-old VLGC WilPower (125,000 cbm, built 1983) to an undisclosed buyer for around a $3m loss on its book value.
