Awilco’s $13.8m semi-sub contract falls through

Norway’s Awilco Drilling says it has been advised by a customer that a one-well drilling letter of intent awarded last month for the 1982-built semi-submersible rig WilPhoenix will no longer proceed.

The $13.8m contract, with an undisclosed operator, was scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2018 after the rig’s current contract with Apache North Sea was completed.

Awilco is now marketing the rig for work from May through to September.
