Bali grows on the international cruise map

Jakarta: Denpasar’s port of Benoa on the island of Bali is anticipating a total of cruiseship calls this year, and 32,000 cruise passengers. The terminal has just welcomed the Japanese ship, Pacific Venus, the seventh cruiseship to call there already in 2013.

Benoa port became a turnaround port in December 2012 allowing passengers to start or end their cruise voyage in Bali.

The turnaround port now has many facilities, including more room for X-ray equipment, as well as a luggage area that can be adjusted to suit the number of passengers. There are also check-in counters, free wifi and a post office counter.

There are now 15 ports in Indonesia capable of handling cruise ships, including in Ambon, Belawan, Benoa, Celukan Bawang, Jakarta, Karimunjawa, Komodo, Kumai, Lembar, Makasar, Pare Pare, Probolinggo, Sabang, Semarang and Surabaya.  [12/02/13]
