Bangladesh firm targets another supramax

Sources say privately held Bangladeshi concern SR Shipping has targeted another Japanese-built supramax.

Last week reports linked the company to the Nisshin Shipping owned Aston Trader II for $6.8m.

The Bangladesh owner has now added another ship, the same sized but three year older Triple Star for just under $6m from Japan’s Kambara Kisen. SR Shipping refused to confirm the deal when contacted by Splash.

Japanese owners exposed to the harsh environment in dry cargo have been offloading bulkers rapidly in 2016.

Media shy SR Shipping is part of the Kabir Group, a diverse Bangladeshi conglomerate. It has 10 ships in its fleet at present, all managed by subsidiary, Brave Royal.
