Batangas volumes grow

Manila: Asian Terminals Inc reports growing volumes at its Batangas Container Terminal (BCT). This June saw the launch of MCC Transport’s enhanced Philippine Feeder (PH4) for its second weekly service via Batangas. Vessels operated by Express Feeders have also called Batangas Port while other major international carriers are expected to follow suit, ATI said in a statement.

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) has said it is looking to further extend until next year the grant of an incentive that cuts by half the port fees for exporting companies that use the Batangas International Port for their shipping requirements.

The 50% discount on the processing fees for full container load shipments to be discharged or loaded at the Batangas International Port, has already been extended until December 2014. Batangas, some 70km south of Manila, continues to try and position itself as an alternative to the congested capital of the Philippines.  [02/07/14]
