Beibu Gulf Port to develop terminal with Thai coal trader

China’s Beibu Gulf Port Group, the major port operator in Guangxi province, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Thailand’s Banpu Public Company to jointly develop coal trade.

Under the agreement, the two parties will work together to develop a coal distribution centre at Beibu Gulf Port which includes the development of a coal terminal.

Beibu Gulf Port has been positioned as an international corridor to the ASEAN region, and a strategic pillar to support the opening-up and development of the southern regions of China. It is also a main coal import base in South China.

Banpu Public Company is a major mining and power company in Thailand. It has coal mining operations in Thailand, Indonesia, and China, and coal-fired power generation operations in Thailand and China.
