Beibu Gulf Port Group merges with Xijiang Development Group

Beibu Gulf Port Group, the major port operator in Guangxi province in China, has started a strategic merger with Guangxi Xijiang Development & Investment Group, the major river port and logistics operator on the Xi River in Guangxi.

Under the merger plan, Xijiang Development Group will be merged into Beibu Gulf Port Group and become a unit of the latter.

Beibu Gulf Group currently operates major ports in Guangxi, Fangchenggang Port, Beihai Port and Qinzhou Port, while Xijiang Development Group operates a number of river ports as well as logistics and shipping companies.

Beibu Gulf Port Group believes the merger will facilitate the development of river-ocean shipping in the region and further expand the group’s shipping network.
