Berge Bulk closes in on ICBC capesize quartet

Singapore-based dry bulk owner Berge Bulk is on the verge of adding four vessels to its fleet of 60 vessels with the acquisition of four capesizes from China’s ICBC Leasing.

Splash understands from broking sources that subjects have been lifted on the deal, done last month, which sees the James Marshall-led outfit forking out around $98m en bloc for the Chinese-built vessels.

The four vessels are the 2011-built New Shanghai and 2010-built New Quzhou, New Huzhou and New Taizhou. All four were previously owned by Zosco, which was declared bankrupt in October 2016.

Berge Bulk has yet to respond to enquiries from Splash regarding the deal.
