Berge Bulk upgrades VLOC orders

Guangzhou: Singapore’s Berge Bulk has modified a contract with Guangzhou Longxue to build larger bulk carriers, shipbroker Clarkson reports.

Although the original contracts were signed at the end of last year, Berge Bulk are understood to have converted an order for four 250,000 dwt VLOCs at Longxue to a larger 300,000 dwt design,” Clarkson said in a weekly report. These latest vessels are due to deliver in 2016, and are in addition to an existing order for four 250,000 dwt ore carriers contracted by the same buyer in mid-2013.

Berge Bulk has 36 ships in its fleet including four 388,000 dwt Valemaxes.  [01/04/14]
