Bergen Group’s pipe installation subsidiary goes bust

Norway’s Bergen Group has announced today that subsidiary, Bergen Group Skarveland, has resolved a petition for bankruptcy due to a lack of new orders and poor results.

Bergen Group Skarveland focuses on pipe installations for the building of ships and deliveries for the offshore and onshore industry.

Bergen said that cutbacks in both the shipbuilding and offshore market over the past year has had a “strong negative” impact on the subsidiary, with non-audited figures for the first half of 2015 showing a turnover of NOK 32m ($3.9m) and an operating loss (EBIT) of NOK 9m ($1.1m).

Bergen Group Skarveland is located at Sunde in western Norway and had a total of 70 permanent employees.
