Blue Water Shipping secures Kazakhstan contract

Danish company Blue Water Shipping has announced that a consortium led by the company has secured a contract from Tengizchevroil (TCO) in Kazakhstan to supply transport and logistics services.

A consortium of Blue Water Shipping and Kazmortransflot (KMTF) will be responsible for transporting 75 modules and cargo weighing up to 1600 tons on the Caspian Sea from Kuryk to the Port of Prorva near the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Blue Water Shipping will be responsible for transportation and project management, while KMTF will supply and operate three specially designed module carrying vessels.

The vessels have been ordered at Vard Braila shipyard in Romania.

The vessels will be owned and operated by KMTF, who has subcontracted with Topaz Energy and Marine for technical management.

“Executing transport and logistical projects like this requires comprehensive expertise. During the past 20 years, Blue Water has developed a strong set-up when it comes to complex logistics in the Caspian Sea region. We are honored that TCO has awarded us a second major contract this year. We are looking forward to this project, and we see KMTF as a good partner in this project based on their expertise and track record,” said Kurt Skov, ceo and founder of Blue Water Shipping.

In May, Blue Water Shipping formed a partnership with Topaz Marine and Energy, which will supply 15 specially designed MCVs for the transportation of modules through the Russian river systems to the Port of Prorva. Nine of the vessels will be built at Vard Braila and Vard Tulcea in Romania with six to be built in Vietnam at Vard Vung Tau.
