BNP Paribas boxship pair on charter to Italia Marittima put up for sale

BNP Paribas, thorough Italian leasing company BNP Paribas Lease Group, has decided to put up for sale the two containerships Ital Milione and Ital Moderna, currently operated by Evergreen-controlled Italia Marittima.

According to information circulated by several shipbrokers, the 4,363 teu sister ships were built in South Korea, delivered by Hyundai Mipo in 2008.

Ital Milione will come off time charter in June while Ital Moderna will come off in 2019.

Pierluigi Maneschi, head of the Trieste-based Italia Marittima, confirmed that both the containerships were taken in on long-term charter with high daily rates and the agreement will not be renewed at the expiry date.

However Maneschi informed Splash that they will be “replaced with a pair of new ships which are part of Evergreen’s newbuilding plans made up of 15 small and big new containerships”.
