Bohai Ferry places orders for two roro ships at CIMC Raffles

Chinese roro ship operator Bohai Ferry has signed shipbuilding contract with CIMC Raffles to construct two multi-purpose roro ships.

The two ships will be chartered to the company’s newly establishment join venture Bohai Hengtong Ferry for domestic coastal cargo shipping operations.

The two ships are expected to be delivered in 2020, and the price for each ship is RMB207m ($29.8m).

Bohai Ferry set up the jv Bohai Hengtong Ferry with Hengtong Logistics in June this year and the company believes the two roro ships will help the company develop the intermodal cargo transport business via its bases in Dalian and Yantai in the Bohai Sea Rim.
