Borealis linked with boxship trio

Top management at UK-based Borealis Maritime look to have been busy while attending myriad parties at last week’s Posidonia in Athens with brokers linking the Chritoph Toepher-led company to three boxship buys.

Borealis is believed to have paid $14.4m each for two Claus-Peter Offen 4,225 teu sister boxships, the ANL Warragul and CPO Jackonsville, continuing the dramatic fleet sell-off seen across the Offen fleet in recent months.

Borealis is also reported by brokers as snapping up the 3,356 teu Cicular Quay from another German owner, Bernhard Schulte.

Borealis management has yet to confirm the deals to Splash and these new ships have yet to be added to the company’s fleet list on its site, which at present lists 42 boxships as well as six bulk carriers, two LPG carriers, 13 chemical carriers and one product tanker.
