The results for oil-drilling bids offshore Canada’s Newfoundland province saw British supermajor BP emerge with acreage in four of eight parcels awarded.
The Canada-Newfoundland & Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) was auctioning deep-water tracts off Eastern Newfoundland and in the Jeanne d’Arc basin.
C-NLOPB collected a total of around $565m in work commitments from operators.
Other winning bids came from Hess Canada Oil and Gas, Noble Energy Canada, Navitas Petroleum, DKL Investments, Nexen Energy and Husky Oil Operations.
