BP tipped to refloat tender for Mad Dog 2 semi-submersible unit

BP is looking to retender its anchor production structure for its $10bn Mad Dog 2 field development in the US Gulf of Mexico, in a tender that will be opened up to yards in China and Singapore, the Business Times from Singapore reports.

First bids from Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering came in at above Mad Dog 2’s set budget for the semi-submersible production unit.

Keppel Fels and Cosco Shipyard are expected to make the cut for the new tender.
