Bulker sinks on Yangtze

Shanghai: A bulk carrier, Kui Xia 609, sank on the Yangtze River yesterday due to its hull collapsing near Yichang of Hubei.

The vessel was carrying about 5,000 tons of titanium ore from Chongqing to Zhenjiang. All the 10 crewmembers onboard have been rescued.

Currently the local maritime safety authority is investigating the accident. [22/10/14]
