Shanghai: Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding has won a big order for up to nine handysize log-fitted bulkers from Norway’s Eitzen Eco Bulk.
The 38,000 dwt ships are costing $21m each and are based on the Green Dolphin design created by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), Wartsila and Norway’s classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Each of the newbuildings can save five tons of bunkers per day, Eitzen claimed. [21/05/13]
