Canfornav takes Parakou handies

Canadian Forest Navigation (Canfornav) has bought a pair of sister laker ships – Gadwall and Garganey – that it had been chartering from Hong Kong’s Parakou Shipping. No price has been given for the 10-year-old China-built handy pair, though brokers estimate the price per unit would have been in the region of $7m.

Low profile Parakou has set about rejuvenating its fleet over the last two years. It has seven ultramaxes due to deliver this year and is also waiting on delivery of four medium-range (MR) tanker newbuilds.
