Centrica and Qatar Petroleum buy into Canadian energy

Doha: Britain’s Centrica and Qatar Petroleum International have bought a package of crude oil and natural gas assets in Canada, from Suncor Energy worth $987m.

The deal is the first investment between the largest company for energy supply in the UK and the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) since the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two companies in December 2011.
This deal shows the growing of Gulf producers' interest in the boom taking place in North American oil and gas production from unconventional sources, which has cut sales from the Middle East.  [17/04/13]
